If Viral Marketing Worked This Quickly!

The bug’s been pretty active here the past few weeks…

Joshua caught a bug at school… leaving him with a stuffy nose and phlegmmy cough for a good week. Then Al caught it and he was as helpless as a big “man baby” can possibly be for another week… and I finally caught my share of the yuckies which I’ve been fighting off for the last couple of days. My Chloraseptic spray & jar of Vicks Vaporub are my bestest friends at the moment.

And then… yes, there’s an “and then”

We rushed off to the Emergency Room last night because Joshua had (picture this…) one hand on the coffee table and the other on the sofa while he lifted both legs up (like in gymnastics parallel bars)… when the hand on the table slipped and he bumped the back of his head (the part right behind his ear) on the table.

What our coffee table kinda looks like… very child unfriendly.
I just assumed my son was so above all the usual kid-accidents…

He started screaming and crying immediately (which I was told was a very good thing… but doesn’t make it any less frightening), got an ice pack on it and gave him some Tylenol for the pain right away… but I thought I felt a small indentation where he got bumped, so we practically teleported him to the ER. Thank God it was only a superficial wound and nothing was broken, nor were stitches needed…

We will resume our regularly scheduled program as soon as I’ve finished padding every piece of furniture in our home.

We had a similar child-unfriedly table when my son was little. He knocked his head on it a few times, and when my aunt heard about it she told me that she *literally* wrapped any sharp edges of her furniture in bubble wrap when her kids were small.

I can’t say I took it that far, LOL, but it’s an option. :-)
    Best,

    Hi Michelle,

You know, bubble wrap sounds like a really good idea! Other moms have been telling me, “This is just the beginning….” - great.

Thanks for being here : )

It doesn’t ever stop so don’t think it will get better. Two night’s ago our youngest (21) called to tell us he had a small wreck but very little damage to either car. Last night our daughter (24) called in tears a car had just run in to the side of her car; a lot of damage but still no one was hurt. Today our oldest (27) said he wasn’t going to drive because he might be next so his mother is doing the driving today while they are in Tallahassee for the weekend (football season).

Good luck to you and hope it gets better.

    Dave…

That is why I’ve decided my kids will live at home with me forever, where I will do everything for them, including playing the role of their chauffeur until I am legally unable to do so…

At which time, I will hire a full time chauffeur, or make certain those OnStar-type systems have been installed on every car anyone in our family will ever drive, so that I can glue myself to the monitor and keep an eye on their every move… and drive myself deeper into insanity.

I’m glad to hear your children were not hurt, Dave… car accidents are scary, especially when you’re away from your parents.

    Take care,
    ~ Carmen
