Feels Good to Take Action
We recently purchased a new home and decided to throw out/give away all our old furniture. I mean, it’s a brand new place, for cryin’ out loud… it deserves brand new furniture – right?
Anyway, for the last 2 months, we’ve been shopping for furniture – searching, comparing, putting it off for later… we’d find something we like, but, didn’t want to make the commitment of actually purchasing the stuff, just in case something better came along.
So, guess what we had for those 2 months? No furniture. We couldn’t invite friends and family over because there were no places to sit… and because our living/family room downstairs were bare, we spent most of our time at home upstairs.
Anyway, my son’s birthday party was approaching, and the hubby and I had to sit down and make a decision – choose and buy, or, go Japanese style and ask our guests to get comfy on the floor. I didn’t think that second option was such a great idea.
So we took the plunge. We purchased a full living/family room set (sofa, loveseat, 2 end tables, coffee table, and 2 lamps per set) in one shot. Granted it took a while to narrow down the store… and even longer to narrow down and choose 2 of our favorite sets, but, it’s done!
We’ve got furniture and it’s fantastic
The party was a blast, Joshua had a great time, everyone loved our little home, and now we don’t have a problem with family and friends popping in unexpectedly.
The moral of the story? Just do it
By waiting around to buy our furniture, we weren’t just holding off on furnishing our home – we weren’t able to invite friends, relax and enjoy our new space, and get this burden off our backs…. like checking off an item on your ‘to do’ list.
If you keep waiting around… if you’re scared of making a commitment because something better might come along… if you don’t take action because you want it all to be perfect, it’ll be a long time before you see yourself moving forward. Take action now because doing something is better than nothing at all.
Don’t just sit and wait in an empty room… take action, move on, and have a blast!!
We’re still shopping around for a TV for
that little entertainment thing there… but,
I’m leaving that to my husband!

Nice house… and be thankfull you’re not going to get clouds though it.
Having a cloud in your house causes real big probems with mold.
(in case you don’t remember, you wrote about my house here: http://www.marketingchick.com/blog/2003_06.shtml )
