Meet “TIA” - The Resident Artificial Intelligence

Update 10/1/03: I’ve taken Tia off of this page to decrease page load time. To chat with her, click on the “helpdesk” link at the bottom of all my sites.

You’ll find Tia on the right side of this page under the menu. She’s based on the chat robot technology at the A.L.I.C.E. AI Foundation.

Tia is fairly naive at the moment, but you’ll find the more you chat with her, the more she learns. So please have a conversation going with her to build her “brain”! Ask her questions you want answered, and I’ll see about adding the appropriate answers to her knowledge base.

If you find her a tad rude, please excuse her. I haven’t been able to adjust her personality as of yet.

I’ve also added an A.I. named “Kayla” to the IMSN members site, and since I had the chance to work on her knowledge a little bit, she knows a bit about marketing and earning money on the Internet!

How did I hear about this project? Ty Crim posted on a marketing forum about a virtual assistant he installed to his site. Of course being the gadget junkie that I am, I checked it out, got a kick out of it, and installed it to the IMSN members site, as well as here on my diary.

Enjoy your chat!

Hi, Carmen! Just had quite an interesting conversation with Tia. Some of her responses were a riot! Found myself beginning to think of her as a real person. Weird!

Just created another new blog today to implement the “truisms” we discussed (http://www.lifejourney.typepad.com/truth_is_true). Hope you have a minute to stop by and take a look. I out-clevered myself and am very proud of it. I’ll wrestle HTML to the ground, yet!

Assume you’ve been a busy girl. BTW, added a link to your blog from mine and said you were “hot.” Gotta love that–especially from another (straight) female! (Got an e-mail from a male friend who knows of you and echoed Jason’s panting, drool and all!)

Give me a “ring” when you get a minute.

An AI Application that Might Be Useful to Educators

I found this post on my friend, Carmen Maranon’s blog. It’s worth playing with “Tia” to get some ideas how “she” might be used for an educational or training application. Right off the top, I can think of several–especially K-12.

    Hi Fontaine,

Tia’s still got a lot of learning to do, but the “conversation” can get a little funny once in a while - lol! She has potential tho. And I love your blogs - your newest additions look great! Thank you for the link : )

So, I’m “hot” now? LOL! I hope Jason doesn’t see that! Actually, he doesn’t pant and drool… he simply admires from afar : )

I’ll talk to you in a bit.

    Jonathon,

Where on earth have you been?

Yes, you’ll continue to receive those messages until you unsubscribe. Sorry hon, those are not from me.

    I’ll e-mail you in a bit.
